Terms of Service
Last updated: March 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to Stake. By using our service, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully before creating a challenge or making any payments.
Stake is a fitness commitment platform that helps you stay accountable to your fitness goals by putting money on the line.
2. How Stake Works
Stake allows you to create fitness challenges with a financial commitment. Here is how it works:
- You select an activity type (cycling or running) and a daily goal in minutes.
- You choose a challenge duration (7, 14, 30, or 60 days).
- You deposit a stake amount of your choice.
- You connect your Strava account to automatically verify your activities.
- Each day, you must complete at least the minimum minutes to count as a successful day.
3. Payment Handling
All payments are processed securely through Stripe. Stake does not store your credit card information. By making a payment, you agree to Stripe's terms of service.
Your deposit is held until your challenge ends. No partial refunds are available once a challenge has started.
4. Activity Verification
Activity verification is done through Strava. You must connect a valid Strava account before starting a challenge. Activities must be recorded and synced to Strava by midnight in your local timezone to count for that day.
We rely on the data provided by Strava. Stake is not responsible for sync delays, missing activities, or incorrect data from your tracking device.
5. Challenge Completion and Failure
Success: If you complete all required days of your challenge, your full deposit will be refunded to your original payment method within 5-10 business days.
Failure: If you miss even one day, your challenge is considered failed. The challenge ends immediately upon the first missed day, and your deposit is not refunded.
6. Donation Policy
When a challenge is failed, your stake is donated to a charitable organization. We partner with verified charities and process donations on a monthly basis. You will receive confirmation when your donation has been processed.
You cannot choose the charity or reclaim the donation once a challenge has failed.
7. User Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining accurate account information.
- Ensuring your Strava account is connected and syncing properly.
- Recording and uploading your activities in a timely manner.
- Setting realistic goals that are safe for your fitness level.
8. Liability Disclaimer
Stake is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any injuries, health issues, or damages that may result from your participation in fitness activities.
Always consult a healthcare professional before starting any new fitness program. You participate in challenges at your own risk.
